Miss Slends has a temperature following the birth of her baby. The doctor has ordered 1 gram of Paracetamol to be given STAT as anti-pyretic. (prevent/reduces fever)

Scenario 5 for the Drug OSCE

Mr Buds has not been to the toilet for several days. The doctor has prescribed Glycerine suppositories for him as a laxative to be given PR.

Glycerine acts as a lubricant and stimulates the muscles of the intestines causing it to contract which help move the stools along.
Glycerin also known as Glycerol.

Route: per rectum


Side effects:
tummy cramps

Scenario 4 for the Drug OSCE

Mrs Rose has a chest infection and has been prescribed Ampicillin 250mg orally TDS an antibiotic.(kills bacteria)


Time:
TDS(x3) day

Side effects:
Nausea and vomiting,
diarrhoea;
